Our Family

Kyle

International MBA turned change management consultant in the higher education and travel/leisure industries (previously employed at a Big 4 consulting firm and a Fortune 300 company). Spent two years volunteering with Vietnamese refugees in Cambodia with his church, opening his eyes (and heart) to the world. Also speaks Vietnamese and some Mandarin Chinese.

Musician, foodie, and Kevin Durant loyalist. Self-proclaimed geography nerd.

Tiffany

Previously a one-dimensional, extremely upbeat extrovert. Deepened and sobered by adult life, but in a good way. The human incarnation of granola (her favorite food, naturally). Fueled by novelty and new horizons, and sleeping in. Passionate since youth about international development work and hopes to make her mark in the field someday, somehow.

Dreamer. Deep question asker. Homeschooler, natural birther, natural food enthusiast. Lover of all things bohemian, international, and aesthetically pleasing.

Meilin

Founder of the Young Entrepreneurs Club back in Minnesota, fully organizing a team of like-minded kids to sell and market their products each month, donating a part of profits to meaningful causes (local homelessness, reconnecting families separated by Liberian civil war, Nepalese orphans, etc). Dreams of building a sustainable business that can help lift some of the burdens of global poverty.

Theater, poetry, and cooking enthusiast. Clay charm crafter extraordinaire. Deep thinker and avid reader.

Erik

Lives and breathes classical piano and violin. Aspires to attend Julliard and perform in Carnegie Hall someday. Before health problems prohibited it, was a committed vegetarian because, "I like bacon, I just like animals more." Sweet, soft-spoken, and sensitive to the extent that we have to kill bugs behind his back.

Considers himself Chopin's number one fan. Obsessed with computer coding and all things Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Charlie

One curious and cool dude who loves gadgets, cub scouts, and collecting "stuff." Aspires to grow up and become WALL-E, rummaging through and collecting long-forgotten treasures (aka trash). With his can-do attitude and uncompromising confidence, he's determined to get his way in life.

Mini-MacGyver. Favorite book: Hatchet. First word as a baby: "cut-cut" (plastic IKEA kids' knife that he cherished above all else).

Amelia

Lover of bunnies and drawing, and especially drawing bunnies. Used to love all animals but cannot forgive carnivores who eat bunnies. Fiercely independent-minded but loves to have mom at her side. Spontaneous, spunky, and expert snuggler.

Peace maker. Devoted sister and daughter. Collector of useless but pretty things. Explorer.

Cosette

Queen who reigns supreme in our household. Typical two-year-old, delightful and darling, and a diva to the extreme. Sweats profusely from her nearly bald head. Devours bowls of noodles in one sitting. Sings herself to sleep with nursery rhymes, and her pitch is pretty spot on.

Insanely adored by her siblings. Shrieks (screams) in the range of merfolk about nearly everything. Resists bedtime with all her might, but then resumes charming us even while she slumbers.
